My medium of choice is metal. It’s just there on my workbench being hard, being stiff, being plain. With just a little encouragement from the torch I can bend and change it into a completely new form.
I’m inspired by shapes. Shapes and patterns can be found in all of reality. Pay attention and see them in art, nature, food, architecture, our world, and the whole Universe.
I work mostly with sterling silver, copper, brass and often mix metals for contrast and effect. I enjoy experimenting with various techniques; acids to create turquoise patinas on brass, extreme heat to create earthy orange and red patinas on copper, and a frosty white forms on sterling silver by bringing the pure silver to the surface.
Sometimes the metal calls for those special beauties, gemstones. A gift hidden in the dark, private womb of Mother Earth. Each with its own unique color and pattern just waiting for discovery and light to reveal its magnificence.
A sampling of these techniques and my core work is shown here.
After a move from south to north Florida, I’m currently taking some time off. I expect to return to shows in October 2017.
